Dr. Frenk:
Por este medio le expresamos nuestra preocupación sobre lo que
está aconteciendo en relación al Instituto de Estudios Cubanos y
Cubanoamericanos, ICCAS y las personas que han estado al frente del mismo.
El ICCAS ha sido un baluarte muy importante en lo que respecta a
informar sobre la realidad cubana. Los cubanos de la diáspora al igual que los
que residen en la isla y, eventualmente pueden viajar al exterior, han
tenido en el ICCAS una entidad sobria, equilibrada e imparcial en
la que toda la comunidad ha tenido la oportunidad para expresar los diferentes
puntos de vistas que le caracterizan.
Como centro de estudio, investigación e información el Instituto de la
Memoria Histórica Cubana contra el Totalitarismo, siempre ha contado con la
colaboración del Instituto de Estudios Cubanos y Cubanoamericanos y sus
directivos para las diferentes tareas que ha emprendido.
Nuestra principal función es recuperar la historia nacional cubana
desde 1959, hacer conocer la lucha que un sector del pueblo de Cuba ha
protagonizado contra el totalitarismo y aportarle a las nuevas generaciones
informaciones que han sido censuradas por el régimen de los hermanos Castro, en
esa tarea el ICCAS ha sido un factor fundamental.
El Dr. Jaime Suchlicki y sus colaboradores ha sido para nosotros un
ejemplo de dedicación y seriedad en el deber de informar ajustándose a la
verdad y sin editar para conveniencia de terceros los hechos.
Lamentablemente Cuba sigue regida por una dictadura dinástica. La
realidad no permite percibir cambios sustanciales en un futuro próximo, en
consecuencia la labor del ICCAS, del doctor Suchlicki y sus colaboradores son
muy importantes para el presente y futuro de la Patria de José Martí.

Dear Dr. Frenk:
We would like to express our concern regarding the current situation
between the Institute for Cuban and Cuban American Studies and its Directors.
El Instituto de la Memoria Historica Cubana contra el Totalitarismo
(Institute of Cuban Memorial History against Totalitarianism) is a center of
studies, investigation and information. Our main function is to recover the
history of the Cuban nation since 1959, make known the battle that has been
fought against the totalitarian regime, and document for future generations
information that has been censured by the regime of the Castro brothers.
ICCAS has been invaluable in its labor informing the current situation
and the reality in Cuba. The Cubans living in and out of their country have had
in ICCAS a place that has been balanced and impartial, here our community has
been allowed to express their different points of view. We have always been
able to count on the Instituto de Estudios Cubano y Cubano Americanos, its
Directors have been our allies, we are truly grateful. Dr. Jaime Sucklicki and
his colleagues have been an example of labor and dedication, their work has
been exemplary in their search for the truth without making allowances for any
third parties.
Unfortunately, Cuba continues to be governed by a dynasty of dictators.
Its reality does not allow serious changes in the immediate future, therefore the
work done by ICCAS, Dr. Suchlicki and his associates are of the utmost
importance for the present and the future of the homeland of Jose Marti.
